Feb. 7, 2018

Petrobras will launch next week a tender for the contracting of the FPSO that will be part of the Integrated Project of the Parque das Baleias in the Campos Basin. The information is from the director of Corporate Affairs of the company, Eberaldo de Almeida Neto. Proposals for the unit should be delivered in six months.

This is the fifth bidding for the contracting of platforms for oil production in Brazil. In addition to the Mero platform, Petrobras is contracting production facilities for the Marlim field in the Campos Basin and Búzios in the Santos Basin.

Recently, the company announced that it has launched a tender for the contracting of the second definitive FPSO for the Mero field in the Santos Basin. The unit, as well as the first, recently contracted with Modec, will have the capacity to produce 180,000 barrels per day of oil and compress 12 million m3 / day of natural gas.

Petrobras is currently hiring four FPSOs to start production in 2021, in addition to the second Mero unit, which is forecast to have the first oil expected in 2022.

It is not common for Petrobras to launch so many bids on platforms close to each other. The perception of the market is that the company trying to anticipate the new General Law for Government Owned Companies, which provides that all bids must be public and open to anyone who wants to participate, and the electoral calendar.
