PROBLEMS ON THE CHRISTMAS TREE FORCES OGX TO CLOSE TUBARAO MARTELO’S WELL UNTIL A SOLUTION IS FOUND

A pressure drop on the wet Christmas tree detected by OGX at 7-TBMT-8HP, which operates at the Tubarao Martelo well, halted production. The submerged centrifugal pump was shut down and the well closed, in order to avoid possible damages. After waiting for an increase in the pressure, which would facilitate the process of resumption of production and certification of the integrity of the submarine system, the pump was started. As no flow was observed at the well in the FPSO OSX-3 production unit, it was closed again.

The OGX technical team is attempting to find a solution to the problem, and while positive indications are being obtained as to the outcome of these actions, progress is slow. The producing well began its operation in December 2013 and until the date of its interruption, it produced about two thousand barrels per day. OGX’s technical team says that it “is confident in the resumption of production in the well, which is totally conceived and carried out by the company and which has maximum security as a constraint, in order to avoid any undesirable impacts to employees, facilities and the environment. “
