Petrobras hires contractors for works at Abreu e Lima refinery

NICOLA PAMPLONA

RIO DE JANEIRO, RJ (FOLHAPRESS) – Petrobras announced the contracting of the Conenge SC / Possebon consortium to complete works at Abreu e Lima Refinery facilities in Pernambuco.

The refinery has been in operation since 2014 but the lack of equipment for the treatment of sulfur and other pollutants prevents it from reaching the projected capacity of 115,000 barrels per day.

The consortium will be responsible for the construction of two units, which are responsible for the treatment of liquids and gases resulting from the production of fuels with low pollutants.

The value of the contract was not reported by the company.

In March, Petrobras had already announced that Qualiman had been hired for R $ 301.6 million to complete another refinery facility, the Emission Reduction Unit.

The resumption of works in Abreu and Lima, which were suspended due to the discovery of the corruption scheme investigated by Operation Lava Jato, was authorized by the board of directors in July 2016.
