Petrobras signed the work order to restart work for the completion of the Emission Abatement Unit of the Abreu e Lima Refinery (RNEST), in Pernambuco. The start-up of the unit is planned for June 2018, which will allow the operation of the first refinery train at full load. The contract for the supply of goods and the rendering of services was signed on 03/16 with Qualiman Engenharia e Montagens.
RNEST’s unit is a pioneer in Petrobras and will be the third in the world to start operations. It is a unit dedicated to the treatment of gases resulting from the production process of low-pollutant fuels, such as diesel S-10 (diesel with up to 10 parts per million of sulfur).
Located in the municipality of Ipojuca, in the Suape port industrial complex, the Abreu e Lima Refinery primarily produces Diesel S-10, accounting for about 30% of the national production of this derivative, in addition to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), petrochemical naphtha, fuel oil and coke. With the start-up of the unit, RNEST will start to produce sulfuric acid and sulfur. RNEST train 1 has been in operation since November 2014, and currently has an authorized load of 100,000 barrels per day.
