The CBO Group launched the first vessel of type AHTS 18,000 produced at the Oceana shipyard, in Itajaí (SC). The unit is the first in a series of six vessels of this model being built at the shipyard. The Bossa Nova CBO began to be built in 2015 and is contracted by Petrobras, with delivery scheduled for mid 2017.
With capacity to build four to six ships per year, the shipyard has already delivered two 4,500 PSVs, which are in operation for Petrobras: CBO Oceana and CBO Itajaí, both of which operate in the Campos Basin. “We currently have 27 ships and we will reach 33 with these six AHTS 18,000, representing a 22% growth of our total fleet, growth with large vessels and high technological content,” said CBO Group President Edson Souki.
Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessels (AHTSs) are offshore offshore support vessels designed to carry out anchor handling, towing and platform supply operations, carrying a wide variety of cargoes, both liquid and bulk.
