Prysmian Brazil closes US $ 1.4 million contract to supply umbilicals

Prysmian Brazil, global leader in cables and systems for energy and telecommunications sectors, has just signed a contract worth US $ 1.4 million, with the Indonesian Star Energy, to supply energy cabling systems to be installed in the gas drilling platform Kakap PSC, located in the Natuna Sea, in Jakarta.

The project scope includes the supply of umbilical cabling platform responsible for communication with the gas well in a water depth of 135 meters. Prysmian will supply two complete umbilical systems more than 5 kilometers long, including engineering, project management, and ancillary tests.

According to Darcio Rossi, director of Prysmian in Brazil, based in Houston, the contract in Indonesia consolidates the company’s leadership position in the global market and reflects the Brazilian expertise in offshore projects. “Prysmian in Brazil is the only manufacturer of fully integrated umbilicals, which manufactures nearly all the components, from electric cables, power, optical and thermoplastic hoses, thus providing a great technology and superior product quality,” says Rossi.
