Mota-Engil Signs R$728 Million Contract with Petrobras for Decommissioning Services

April 10 – Portuguese engineering company Mota-Engil announced it has signed a new contract with Petrobras worth R$728 million for the execution of services related to the decommissioning of subsea systems in the Campos Basin. The agreement involves engineering, preparation, removal, and final disposal of offshore structures.

With an estimated duration of 1,825 days, the contract foresees the integrated execution of operations that include the removal of approximately 305 kilometers of subsea pipelines. Among the assets to be uninstalled are flexible production, injection, and gas lift pipelines, as well as electro-hydraulic umbilicals, electrical cables, and fiber optic cables. The scope also includes the removal of subsea equipment and anchoring systems currently on the seabed, at depths ranging from 100 to 1,800 meters.

This initiative is part of the advancement of decommissioning activities in Brazil, a segment that has been gaining relevance with the maturation of offshore fields. According to a statement signed by the company’s representative for market relations, Luis Silva, the contract demonstrates the company’s ability to conduct operations of this scale, meeting the safety, quality, and environmental compliance requirements demanded by the oil and gas industry.
