April 8 – Petrobras has submitted the necessary information to IBAMA (Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) to request authorization to drill three more wells in block FZA-M-59, in the Foz do Amazonas Basin, off the coast of Amapá. As is already known to the market, the oil company is currently drilling the block’s pioneering well, called Morpho, which should be completed by the end of the second quarter.
The environmental license issued by IBAMA for Morpho already provided for the drilling of three other contingent wells. According to a report in the newspaper “Valor Econômico,” the wells will be named Manga, Crotalus, and Extensão de Morpho. The Manga well will be located 173 kilometers from the coast, with drilling estimated at 160 days, at a depth of 2,811 meters.
The Morpho Extension Well will be drilled 181 kilometers offshore, also with a duration of 160 days. The projected depth is 2,991 meters. Finally, Crotalus will be 174 kilometers offshore, with drilling estimated for 150 days and a depth of 2,914 meters.
