March 8 (PN) Petrobras is evaluating increasing the production capacity of three platforms to be installed in the Búzios field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin. The P-80, P-82, and P-83 units were designed to produce up to 225,000 barrels of oil per day each, but the company is studying raising this limit to approximately 270,000 barrels per day.
The company has already achieved a similar feat with the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, which reached an instantaneous record of 270,000 barrels per day in October of last year. According to Petrobras’ president, Magda Chambriard, the increased capacity of these three platforms, added to the performance of the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, would represent an increase of approximately 180,000 barrels per day in production. “It’s like a large new platform, like the P-78 or P-79,” he stated.
The P-80 platform is scheduled to begin its journey from the shipyard to Brazil in August 2026. Following that, the P-82 is expected to depart in September of the same year, while the P-83 should complete this stage in February 2027.
