Feb. 25 (oilnow.gy) ExxonMobil Guyana Limited on February 19, 2026 continued exploration drilling at the Goatfish-1 well site in the Stabroek Block, according to a notice issued by the Guyana Maritime Administration Department.
The well is being drilled by the MODU Noble Sam Croft and operations are scheduled to conclude on March 31, 2026.
The Goatfish-1 site is located approximately 110 nautical miles offshore Guyana, covering an area of 0.29 square nautical miles. It lies in the southeastern portion of the Stabroek Block, near the Suriname border.
ExxonMobil has confirmed that the area has yielded more natural gas than oil in previous discoveries. The government has said it is prioritizing development of the country’s gas reserves, which are estimated at 17 trillion cubic feet.
The company completed appraisal work in the area before advancing exploration activities.
