Dec. 23 (PN) Everything is fine with the P-68 floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, which has resumed production in the Berbigão field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin. The unit’s operation was suspended last Friday (19th) after a fire broke out in the water treatment unit panel of the platform.
Production was automatically interrupted by the safety system. The incident was quickly extinguished using a portable fire extinguisher, without any damage to the environment, facilities or workers.
Petrobras stated that it has already reported the incident to the competent authorities and stressed that the incident is not related to the oil workers’ strike, which has already lasted eight days.
The P-68 is located approximately 230 km off the coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, at a water depth of 2,280 meters. The FPSO has the capacity to process up to 150,000 barrels of oil per day and compress up to 6 million cubic meters of natural gas.
