Dec. 22 – The Brazilian National Petroleum Agency (ANP) has given its approval for the start of operations of the FPSO P-78 in the Búzios field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin. The vessel has a production capacity of 180,000 barrels of oil, in addition to compressing 7.2 million m³ of gas per day. The unit will make available 3 million cubic meters per day of natural gas to the Brazilian consumer market.
According to the ANP, the authorization was granted after the approval of the Operational Safety Documentation and analysis of compliance with operational safety conditions, as well as the approval of the project and the authorization for the use of the measurement systems established by the ANP. In mid-November, the P-78 had already received its operating license from the Brazilian Institute of the Environment (Ibama).
The platform will have 13 wells, six of which are producers (with two convertible to injectors), six WAG injectors, and one gas injector. The unit will be interconnected with rigid pipelines for gas production, injection, and export, and flexible pipelines for service and gas lift lines. The FPSO P-78 is the seventh unit planned for installation in the field and will join the other six platforms already operating there: FPSOs P-74, P-75, P-76, P-77, Almirante Barroso, and Almirante Tamandaré.
