Nov. 19 – Petrobras has extended the charter of the Transocean Deepwater Mykonos rig. The charter period, previously scheduled to end in October of this year, has been extended by 60 days, until December, with an option for another 120 days, until April 2026
Built at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea, the Deepwater Mykonos is an ultra-deepwater rig that can operate in water depths of up to 3,000 m. It is currently operating in the Mero field, in the Santos Basin.
Transocean has six rigs operating in Brazil, all under contract with Petrobras: Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2, until May 2026; Deepwater Orion, until March 2027; Deepwater Aquila, until June 2027; Deepwater Corcovado, until September 2027; and Petrobras 10,000, until August 2029.
Transocean has a fleet of 32 drilling rigs, 24 of which are ultra-deepwater and eight are hostile environment floating rigs.
