Petrobras Extends Tender Deadline for Albacora Field Revitalization FPSO

Nov. 14 – Petrobras has postponed the deadline for receiving proposals for the construction of the platform that will serve the revitalization project of the Albacora field in the Campos Basin to May 25, 2026. The tender, originally announced in March 2025, stipulated a deadline of December 15, 2025. According to the company, the postponement aims to ensure greater alignment of the project with the best technical and economic practices in the sector, in a context of continuous updating of assumptions and evaluation of market conditions.

The revitalization project foresees the initial development of the Forno reservoir (pre-salt) and the complementary phase of the post-salt reservoirs. Petrobras owns 100% of the Albacora field, with the Forno reservoir unitized with the North Brava Block, in the Manjuba accumulation. Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) acts as manager of the North Brava Production Sharing Contract.

This is Petrobras’ second attempt to contract the new Albacora platform. The first tender, under the chartering model, received proposals from BW Offshore and Ocyan, but ended unsuccessfully in price negotiations. In the current tender, the chosen modality was BOT (Build Operate Transfer), whereby the winning bidder will operate the vessel for a specific period and then transfer responsibility to Petrobras.

The platform will have the capacity to produce 120,000 barrels of oil per day and a projected lifespan of at least 20 years. The unit will be anchored in offshore waters, at a depth of 670 meters. The FPSO will receive production from subsea oil wells and must have processing facilities to treat the fluids, stabilize them, and separate the produced water and natural gas. The processed liquids will be metered, stored in the ship’s cargo tanks, and transferred to shuttle tankers.
