Aug. 25 *PN) Petrobras President Magda Chambriard stated that the company has just reached a new milestone in natural gas processing. According to the executive, the state-owned company surpassed the 50 million cubic meters of natural gas processed per day mark last Saturday (23).
“As we have said, it is the effort to increasingly make specified gas available to the market for consumption that allows for the gradual reduction in the prices we are offering,” Chambriard wrote in a LinkedIn post. “In the free market, depending on demand conditions, our gas is arriving with more flexible contracts, between US$6 and US$7/MMBtu,” she added.
This new milestone was achieved shortly after the expansion of the operating capacity of the Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN) at the Boaventura Complex (formerly Comperj), in Itaboraí, Rio de Janeiro. The plant’s second module entered commercial operation in early May, and, combined with the first module, inaugurated last year, the Boaventura UPGN’s total processing capacity is 21 million cubic meters per day.
“A tremendous team effort that generates unequivocal benefits for society in general, and for our government and private shareholders! We are moving forward, hand in hand, with a great spirit of cooperation and mutual trust! Together, we are demonstrating how important Brazil is to us,” Magda concluded.
