(PN) Petrobras has begun drilling an adjacent well in the Sudoeste de Tartaruga Verde Block, in the Campos Basin pre-salt layer. The operation is being conducted by the Brava Star drillship, owned by Constellation, in a water depth of 733.5 meters.
The adjacent well aims to test for oil or natural gas in an area close to a previous discovery, in a prospect with geological similarity and geographic proximity, but without a proven hydraulic connection to the previously identified reservoir.
In April 2020, Petrobras announced that it had identified the presence of oil in the block through an exploratory well informally referred to as Natator. Sudoeste de Tartaruga Verde was acquired in the 5th Production Sharing Round, held in September 2018, and is located in the Pre-Salt Polygon, under a production sharing arrangement. Petrobras is the operator of the area with a 100% interest, and Pré-Sal Petróleo S.A. (PPSA) acts as the contract manager.
