The president of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard, met this Thursday, 13/03, with the president of Guyana, Mohamed Irfaan Ali. They participate in CeraWeek, an Energy conference held in Houston, USA.
Magda and Irfaan Ali discussed opportunities in the exploration and production of oil in Guyana’s deep waters and other possibilities for South-South cooperation, aimed at the energy integration of the region.
Guyana’s oil operations are located in the Equatorial Margin, close to the Brazilian portion of this region, which borders the equator.
During the meeting, the president of Guyana demonstrated the neighboring country’s interest in Petrobras’ recognized expertise in deepwater operations.
Guyana has been making significant oil discoveries in its marine territory and, since 2020, has seen its oil production grow by more than 800%. The country currently produces approximately 600 thousand barrels of oil per day and It intends to increase this volume to approximately 1 million by 2027.
