Brazil’s offshore drilling firm, Ventura Offshore, reaches rig acquisition settlement

(offshore-energy.biz) Brazil’s deepwater offshore drilling contractor Ventura Offshore has struck a deal with Umas 1 as the seller of a semi-submersible rig the firm decided to acquire last year to make a lump sum payment as a final settlement.

Ventura Offshore Midco disclosed at the end of June 2024 the acquisition of the SSV Catarina, the 2012-built semi-submersible drilling rig that had previously been managed and operated by Universal Energy Resources, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.

As part of the rig acquisition, it was agreed that Umas 1, as the seller of the unit, should receive 17.5% of the free cashflow generated by the Catarina rig, splitting profits for five years, starting from the contract with Eni Indonesia that began in August 2024. Ventura Offshore started trading in June 2024 on the Euronext Growth stock exchange market in Oslo, Norway.
