Subsea7 managed to come out on top and present the best proposal in a Petrobras bidding process for the supply of SURF (subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines) for the P-83 (Buzios 11) platform vessel. The Norwegian company submitted an offer of R$8.45 billion (US$1.4 billion) in the competition.
The Swiss company Allseas came in second place with a proposal of R$8.9 billion. Allseas had won a similar contract for the Buzios-10 submarine project at the end of 2024, but was unable to repeat the feat this time.
The Portuguese industrial conglomerate Mota-Engil, in partnership with the North American McDermott International, participated for the first time in a Petrobras SURF tender and came in third place by offering R$10 billion for the contract. Finally, the French TechnipFMC, always very strong and competitive in the Brazilian market, presented the highest bid, of R$15 billion, finishing in fourth place.
P-83 will be able to produce up to 225 thousand barrels of oil per day and 12 million m³ of gas per day, and will have a storage capacity of more than 1.6 million barrels. The unit will begin production in 2027 and will contribute to expanding the field’s installed capacity, from the current 600 thousand barrels per day to 2 million barrels per day.
