COOEC Completes Delivery of 13 Topside Modules for FPSO P-79 for the Buzios Field

Chinese EPCI company COOEC has completed the construction of 13 topside modules for FPSO P-79, which will be installed in the Buzios field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin. The Asian company was responsible for the design, acquisition, construction and onboard installation of the equipment. The modules, which weigh almost 30,000 tons and contain more than 320,000 structural components, will require the installation of 153 sets of heavy equipment and the use of 300,000 meters of cables. They will be delivered in the middle of this month at the Qingdao International High-Tech Equipment Manufacturing Base.

According to COOEC, an integrated construction approach was adopted, combining process modules and pipeline gallery modules. The Chinese company applied its own construction management system to several new scenarios and implemented more than 10 technological innovations, including lifting and assembly with SPMT (Self-propelled Modular Transport), lateral fixation of large structures and double-dimensional precision control.

Part of the platform modules were produced in Brazil by the EBR shipyard. The unit’s hull was built in South Korea by the consortium formed by the Italian Saipem and the Daewoo Shipbuilding shipyard. The P-79 will be interconnected to 14 wells, 8 of which will be producers and 6 will be injectors, through subsea infrastructure consisting of rigid production and injection pipelines and flexible service pipelines. The unit’s total production capacity will be 180,000 barrels of oil per day and 7.2 million m3 of gas per day. The plant is scheduled to start operating in 2026.
