(PN) New exploratory activity by Petrobras with different objectives. In recent days, the company began drilling two wells in different fields in the Campos and Santos Basins, in the Marlim Sul and Aram areas, respectively. The information is available on the website of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP).
In Marlim Sul, drilling is taking place in a water depth of 1,179 meters, using the Deepwater Aquila drillship, from Transocean. Drilling new wells in the field is part of the plans for the Revitalization of Marlim. In October of last year, as we reported, the company launched the tender for the contracting of the FPSO P-86, which will be installed in Marlim Sul and Marlim Leste.
In Aram, the new well was drilled in a water depth of 1,179 meters, with the West Auriga drillship, from Seadrill. The block is one of Petrobras’ bets to explore the remaining potential of the pre-salt layer, particularly in the Santos basin. Petrobras has already made two oil discoveries in the Aram block, the first in 2021 and the second in 2023. In the last one, it said it found “an excellent quality fluid, confirming the low contaminant levels”.
