The board of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) approved the inclusion of 25 exploratory blocks in the list of those being studied for possible inclusion in the Permanent Concession Offer (OPC). In total, the blocks represent an area of approximately 18 thousand km² and are geographically located in the SC-AUP1, SC-AUP2 and SC-AP1 sectors of the Campos basin and in the SES-AUP3 sector of the Espírito Santo basin. The area is adjacent to the deep and ultra-deep waters, is located in water depths greater than 2,750 meters and is more than 190 km from the coast.
According to the ANP, after the blocks have been designated, the next steps include environmental analysis, issuing of a Joint Statement by the Ministries of Mines and Energy (MME) and Environment (MMA), and a public hearing. Once all these steps have been completed, the blocks may be incorporated into the Permanent Concession Offer notice.
“The inclusion of these exploratory blocks is in accordance with Board Resolution No. 647/2024, which approved the update of the 2024-2025 Strategic Calendar of Geological and Economic Assessments, linked to the Permanent Concession Offer System, in order to include a new area of geoeconomic studies located in the northern region of the Campos basin and in the southern region of the Espírito Santo basin,” said the ANP.
