(PN) Earlier this month, the Brazilian Institute of the Environment (Ibama) issued a license authorizing Petrobras to begin a 4D seismic survey with nodes in the Buzios field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin.
The survey may be conducted using one of the seismic source vessels: Artemis Arctic or Artemis Odyssey. In addition, the license also allows the use of a vessel for the installation of nodes, which may be the Havila Subsea, Siem Dorado, or Siddis Mariner.
The seismic survey activity consists of the use of equipment and analyses to obtain information about oil and natural gas reservoirs. To carry out these activities, seismic sources are used, equipment known as air guns, which emit sound waves, which penetrate the seabed, are reflected and captured by receivers.
