(PN) FPSO Almirante Tamandaré began its journey to Brazil. The unit left the CMHI shipyard in China today (31) and is headed for the Buzios field, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin. The new platform will be the first with high capacity to be installed in the field, with the potential to produce up to 225 thousand barrels of oil per day (bpd) and process 12 million cubic meters of gas per day. The vessel will enter into operation in 2025.
“FPSO Almirante Tamandaré will be a fundamental resource for the evolution of production in the Búzios field, which already has very positive numbers. I would also like to highlight the technologies of this platform, aimed at decarbonizing production, one of Petrobras’ main objectives in all its operations”, stated Petrobras’ Director of Engineering, Technology and Innovation, Renata Baruzzi. The FPSO Almirante Tamandaré has technologies for decarbonization, such as the closed flare, which, together with other equipment, reduces greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. There is also technology for using heat, which eliminates the need for additional energy for the unit, in addition to equipment for removing CO2 from the gas and its subsequent injection into the reservoir.
The project foresees the interconnection of 15 wells to the FPSO: six oil producers, six water and gas injectors, one gas injector and two more convertible wells. They will be connected to the platform ship through a subsea infrastructure consisting of rigid production and injection pipelines and flexible service pipelines.
