Petrobras returns the Tres Marias Block in the Santos Basin to ANP

(PN) Petrobras decided to return the Três Marias block, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, to the National Petroleum Agency (ANP). The area was acquired by the company in 2018, during the 4th ANP Sharing Round.

Petrobras even found signs of oil in the Três Marias block in early 2022. However, the results of the evaluation of oil and gas samples in the area were considered unsatisfactory by the oil company.

Two other pre-salt blocks had already been returned by Petrobras to the ANP: Peroba, in the Santos Basin, in January 2021; and Dois Irmãos, in the Campos Basin, in March 2023. Shell also returned a block: Saturno, in the Santos Basin, in October 2022.
