The FPSO Cidade de Anchieta, currently in the Parque das Baleias area, on the coast of Espírito Santo, had its production paralyzed after the presence of oil was discovered near the unit. The information was revealed in the 2021 financial and operational report of the Dutch SBM Offshore, which charters the vessel to Petrobras.
The company said that adequate anti-pollution measures were immediately implemented and, fortunately, proved to be effective. The company added that the situation was under control after two temporary hull repairs were carried out. The exact date of the FPSO’s resumption of production has not been revealed. SBM only said that the resumption of the operation depends on the approval of an action plan agreed with Petrobras.
The maximum operating capacity installed at FPSO Cidade de Anchieta is 100,000 barrels per day of oil and 3.5 million m3 of gas. Its production takes place at a water depth of approximately 1,270 meters and began in 2012.
