The Brazilian group CBO announced this week the acquisition of another vessel to compose its offshore support fleet. The new vessel was built in 2011 and will be named CBO Wave. In addition, the vessel already has a signed contract to operate with Petrobras between 2022 and 2025.
The CBO Wave is an RSV type vessel, equipped with remotely operated vehicles. According to CBO, the vessel has high-standard technical specifications that allow it to operate in ultra-deep waters, such as the Brazilian pre-salt.
With the acquisition, CBO expands its fleet of support vessels to 41 units. The CBO Wave was the ninth vessel acquired by the group in its new growth cycle. The number takes into account the five vessels acquired through the acquisition of Finarge.
“These acquisitions are part of the company’s growth plan, which includes continuing to invest in the acquisition of high spec vessels to operate in Brazil,” said CBO. The company added that the vessel will be able to receive the Special Brazilian Registry (REB) as soon as it arrives in Brazil, given the availability of CBO tonnage, as provided for by Brazilian legislation (Law 9,432/1997).
