PETROBRAS GAINS MORE TIME TO DECLARE COMMERCIALITY OF DISCOVERIES IN SERGIPE-ALAGOAS

Petrobras won extra time from the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) to present the declarations of commercial viability for the discoveries of Farfan (BM-SEAL-4), Barra (BM-SEAL-10) and Moita Bonita (BM-SEAL-11) , in the Sergipe-Alagoas basin. The new deadline given to the company will be valid until December 30 of this year.

To the ANP, Petrobras said that it would need more time to prepare the project to develop the production of the discoveries in the basin. The initial deadline established by the ANP for the presentation of the declaration of commerciality expired in May. Petrobras will also use the extra time to assess the feasibility of building an outflow pipeline and a new gas delivery point.

The Petrobras project in Sergipe-Alagoas will feature two production modules. The first will comprise the discoveries of Farfan (BM-SEAL-4), Barra (BM-SEAL-10) and Muriú (BM-SEAL-10). The second module will consist of Moita Bonita (BM-SEAL-11) and Poço Verde (BM-SEAL-4). As for the flow of natural gas, the company should finalize, in October, the basic project for the pipeline that will take gas from the offshore blocks to the natural gas delivery point. The declarations of commerciality by Muriú and Poço Verde had previously been postponed by the agency.

“The requested postponement period until December 30, 2021 basically refers to the adjustment of the project with the inclusion of the new gas delivery point and the internal approval at Petrobras for forwarding the declaration of commerciality”, explained the ANP’s deputy director, José Gutman, during a meeting of the regulatory agency’s collegiate board. He was the rapporteur of the extension request made by Petrobras.
