New preparations for the entry into operation of the Rota 3 gas pipeline, which will take the pre-salt gas to the Gaslub Itaboraí pole (formerly Comperj). Petrobras announced that it had asked Ibama for the operating license for the shallow and onshore maritime stretches of the line, which may start operating later this year.
The shallow water stretch of the pipeline (from a water depth of 58 meters) is about 10 km long. The onshore part of Route 3 is approximately 48 km long. Meanwhile, the deep sea section of the gas pipeline, which has already obtained an operating license, is 297 km long, comprised of water depths of 58 meters and 2,190 meters deep.
Route 3 will have a total length of 355 km, taking the gas from the Santos Basin to the Gaslub Itaboraí, where the Natural Gas Processing Unit (UPGN Rota 3) is installed. The flow rate of the gas pipeline will be approximately 18 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
Petrobras expects to complete all works on the Gaslub Itaboraí complex by the end of 2021. At the end of last year, the company tested the pilot torch lighting system (flare) for the project.
