Ocyan’s Norbe VI rig starts operations today, under a contract signed for the next two years. The first campaing will be carried out in the Tartaruga Verde field, in the Campos Basin, with a duration of up to 45 days. Norbe VI is one of Ocyan’s 5 deepwater drilling rigs.
The rig is a semi-submersible drilling platform, with dynamic positioning capable of operating in water depths of up to 2,400 meters and drilling wells up to 7,500 meters. The rig was built in 2010 and was under contract with Petrobras until 2018. Norbe VI will make an intervention in well 3-RJS-670 and is already allocated, awaiting the final approval by Petrobras to start work.
“We prepared for months in the Guanabara Bay, a period in which all the adaptation and maintenance services were carried out to meet the client’s requirements. Our goal is to keep this asset operationally high, as we already do with other Ocyan rigs, ”explains Heitor Gioppo, Superintendent director of Ocyan’s Drilling Unit.
The rig was one of those classified by Petrobras in the bidding for the contracting of equipment with the capacity to operate in 2 thousand meters of water depth in Brazilian waters delimited by geographic coordinates according to Concession Contracts, Transfer of Rights or Production Sharing Contracts.
Norbe VI Milestones
The semi-submersible rig was already contracted by Petrobras and carried out operations in the period, between 2011 and mid-2018, and had as a favorable indicator the mark of two years without accidents on board. The contract was concluded with 98% operational uptime (efficiency index) and second in the Petrobras performance ranking (Sondópolis).
