Brazilian oil production hits record and surpasses 3 MMbbl / d for the first time

Brazil Oil and natural gas production in November totaled 3.950 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboe / d), of which approximately 3.090 million barrels per day (MMbbl / d) of oil and 137 million cubic meters per day ( MMm³ / d) of natural gas. The month’s production surpassed the records registered in August, when 3,828 MMboe / d were produced, being 2,989 MMbbl / d of oil and 133.3 MMm³ / d of natural gas.

Oil production increased by 4.3% from the previous month and by 20.4% from November 2018, while natural gas increased by 3.8% from the previous month and from 21.6% compared to November 2018.

Pre-salt

Pre-salt production in November increased by 8.1% over October to 2.588 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboe / d), with 2.061 million barrels per day (MMbbl / d) of oil and 83, 7 million cubic meters per day (MMm3 / d) of natural gas. Compared to November 2018, the increase was 42.5%. Pre-salt production corresponded to 65.5% of the total produced in Brazil and surpassed the record registered in August 2019, when 2,427 MMboe / d were produced.

Utilization of natural gas

In November, the use of natural gas was 97.5%, with 66.4 MMm³ / day available to the market. Gas flaring in the month was 3.432 MMm³ / d, a reduction of 2.1% compared to the previous month and 18.5% compared to the same month in 2018.

Producer fields

Lula, in the Santos Basin, was the field that produced the most oil, an average of 1.063 MMbbl / d, and also the largest producer of natural gas: an average of 44.7 MMm3 / d.
