Petrobras has completed the largest seismic survey in the world, in the area of the Búzios onerous assignment, located in the Santos Basin, about 200 km from the city of Rio de Janeiro. Begun in November 2018, the project used ocean bottom nodes installed in 6,600 locations in an area of 1,600 km² – equivalent to four Guanabara bays – in water depths between 1,600 km². 1,200 m.
The work was done in partnership with the company CGG (Compagnie Générale de Géophysique) and Seabed Geosolutions, which used the Manta® model as a seismic receiver, capable of continuously recording data for 75 days at depths up to 3,000 m.
For data acquisition, OBN receivers recorded the seismic reflections generated by acoustic waves emitted by a source vessel.
“From now on the recorded information will go through the seismic processing stage, which consists of the application of specific computational techniques in the creation of subsurface geology imaging. The product of this work will result in high quality geophysical data, ”Petrobras told Petróleo TODAY.
The company added that the information obtained from the survey will support the development and production management of the Buzios field, maximizing the economy and asset recovery factor.
