PETROBRAS FORESEES NEW FPSO CONTRACTING MODEL TO REDUCE COSTS

Petrobras plans to conclude in the first half of 2020 a benchmark project for hiring future FPSOs, seeking to reduce costs, deadlines and increase project quality,  Rudimar Lorenzatto,  Executive Director of Production & Technology Development said on Tuesday.

The main change will be a reduction in the management of interfaces between the actors that build the FPSOs, said the executive. The idea is that “there is only one integrator who is responsible for the scope, and the result of quality, cost and timeframe”.

“We used to hire a company to make the hull, another module, another integration. The idea now is a company doing this and we overseeing this company. With this we believe that will have better results of quality, cost and time, ”he said.

The new model, explained the Executive, will take into account lessons learned in recent years, related to technical areas, business models and contracting with the supplier industry.
