BNDES will participate in project modeling and financing of the natural gas sector infrastructure, and seeks, among the objectives of the Gas for Development Program, to support projects such as those on routes 4, 5 and 6, aimed at increasing offshore production flow capacity in the country.
Part of the BNDES Gas for Development program, the funds may also be used to expand transmission lines and distribution branches, as well as industrial, electric generation, retail and vehicle projects.
There is a strong expectation of saturation of the pre-salt gas flow routes in 2025, said BNDES Energy Superintendent Carla Primavera. “BNDES has been closely following market movements and is prepared to support the expansion of this infrastructure,” he explained in an interview with EnergiaToday.
According to her, the program will continue the bank’s historical performance in the segment. “We supported the construction of 6,000 of the 9,000 km of existing transportation pipelines in the country, including projects such as the Bolivia-Brazil Gas Pipeline, the Northeast and Southeast networks, the Southeast-Northeast Gas Pipeline (Gasene), and the Urucu-Manaus”. “We also support the expansion of natural gas distribution networks in several Brazilian states.”
In addition to supporting the implementation of infrastructure, BNDES also works with states to help model the gas distribution privatization projects. “The process can now take a faster pace, given the agenda of the Federal Government and the New Gas Market,” she noted.
