Petrobras will auction again, this year, the drillship Vitória 10,000. A committee of oil and property supply professionals has been working since last week to define the new market-going strategy, with a minimum price below the $ 47.5 million asked in the first attempt.
The rig went up for auction on September 18 at Petronect, but no registered company bid. The internal return plan, as the oil company calls it, is expected to be finalized in ten days.
The commission is listening to companies registered in the first auction, analyzing the process disclosure model and making internal evaluations to map the problems.
The committee’s conclusions and analysis will be forwarded to the approval of the Executive Manager of Goods and Services Supplies, Cláudio Araújo, and the Director of Corporate Affairs, Eberaldo de Almeida. Although Petrobras has considered the possibility of linking the rig’s auction to the offer of a charter contract, there is no plan on the radar to adopt this strategy.
The auction was published on the Petrobras website, in news and information portals sent to industry entities. The oil company also held a workshop on the sale of the unit with companies in the drilling sector and investors, and promoted technical visits to the rig.
The lack of interest was already expected in the market, since most drilling companies have many non-contracted rigs in their portfolio.
The Vitória 10,000 has the capacity to drill at a depth of 3,000 m and has been moored for about two years at sea, in the Badejo field, Campos Basin, held in a warm stack by a Petrobras team. The target of a long court case, the unit was operated by the former Schahin, renamed Base.
Built by the Samsung shipyard in South Korea, the rig began operating for Petrobras in 2011. In the last years of the contract with the oil company, the unit worked in the Sapinhoá field in the Santos Basin.
