Premier Oil is looking to drill a well in 2020 in the Berimbau / Maraca prospect, in block CE-M-717, in the Ceará Basin. The oil company said it is in contact with suppliers to verify the availability of equipment in the country.
The CE-M-717 was sold to Premier in the 11th round of ANP bids in 2013. The British company holds a 50% stake in the asset, with Cepsa Óleo e Gás do Brasil as its partner. The Spanish partner is being bought by the group Matador Bidco S.A.R.L., formed by the private-equity fund Carlyle Group.
The first exploratory period of the block, whose approximate area is 500 km², is expected to end in July 2021. Between 2016, Premier acquired 3D seismic data in CE-M-717 and CE-M-661 – its other block in Ceará – to plan the location of the wells in the projects.
BE Petróleo found that recently, Premier launched a request for information (RFI) to verify the conditions of well service providers to meet the project. The oil company also promoting a tender to contract a dock berth for offshore support vessels in Fortaleza (CE).
