Rio de Janeiro, April 5, 2017 – Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. – Petrobras informs that the Brazilian Administrative Board of Tax Appeals (CARF) issued yesterday a decision on an administrative tax procedure that upholds taxation, for the purposes of calculating the Income Tax of Legal Entities (IRPJ) and the Social Contribution on Net Profits (CSLL) for the 2009 period, of the profit earned by a company’s Dutch subsidiary, in the approximate amount of R$ 1.5 billion.
Petrobras has not yet been formally notified of the content of the decision, which can be appealed. Should this decision be maintained, the company may still appeal to the Judiciary to defend its rights, whereas this does not represent, therefore, a final decision.
The information pertaining to this matter is presented in the financial statements of 2016, in explanatory note 30 (Provisions for legal proceedings– item 30.3 – Contingent liabilities).
