Having sealed an alliance last year with France’s Total worth $ 2.2 billion, Petrobras now seems to be looking for new international partners. According to CEO Pedro Parente, the Norwegian Statoil and the Portuguese company Galp are in the sights of Petrobras.
Parente stated that the signing of strategic associations is one of the main pillars of Petrobras strategic plan in the coming years. Regarding the partnership with Total, the company’s CEO said the company is interested in the French company’s experience in deep-water offshore exploration in West Africa, because the geology of the two regions is very similar.
The executive also reinforced the company’s goal of reducing its debt, focusing on oil and gas activities, leaving aside other sectors through divestitures such as ethanol and petrochemicals.
