Special Committee For The Pre-Salt Is Installed

The Chamber of Deputies installed today, March 15, a Special Committee that will discuss projects relating to the pre-salt layer that are under consideration in the House. The election of the Chair and Vice-Chair will be held tomorrow.

The Special Committee will be composed of 30 members and 30 alternates. Some parties and groups have not yet named their representatives. The Committee’s principal task will be to consider the main text the Bill by Senator José Serra, approved by the Senate in February, which calls for the end of Petrobras as the sole operator of the pre-salt layer.

In addition to this, another three projects relating to the regulation of E&P activity in the pre-salt layer in process in the Chamber of Deputies will be analyzed. All are considered to be priority in the Chamber.
