PETROBRAS PLANS TO AUDIT PRACTICALLY ALL SUPPLIERS

03/12/2015

RIO – Petrobras plans to conduct an audit in virtually all suppliers to determine whether companies are acting in accordance with the new compliance  requirements of the company , said the Director of Governance, Risk and Compliance , João Elek.

“All companies will go through it. Ninety percent of the contracts will go through this process, “said the executive, at a seminar on governance and compliance, sponsored by FIRJAN in Rio de Janeiro.

According to him, there is no specific deadline for all suppliers to adapt to the new requirements of the company. And he also recognizes that small and medium suppliers may take longer to meet the requirements.

According to Elek, in the bidding processes, for example, auditing steps may be included in the process, to see if the specifications are being followed.

“Ideally, the relationship with suppliers is long term. Petrobras does not exist alone. Our best suppliers are provisionally banned, “added the executive.

Elek added that Petrobras revoked individual authority in the decision-making and subscriptions to individual contracts. “The, president of Petrobras does not sign anything alone “. he said.

The executive acknowledged that this decision may stifle the bureaucracy processes in projects involving partners. But he explained that mitigating mechanisms were created.
