Murilo Ferreira, who heads miner Vale SA, stepped down as chairman of Brazil’s state oil producer Petroleo Brasileiro SA as the world’s biggest iron-ore producer navigates the worst commodity rout in seven years.
His resignation from the Petrobras board, which comes after a seven-week leave of absence, was announced in a Petrobras filing Monday that didn’t give any reasons. Luiz Nelson Guedes de Carvalho, who has been acting chairman since Ferreira took his leave on Sept. 14, will remain in the post until the next board meeting.
