Brazil’s Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency – ANP, announced that total Brazilian oil production was up 3.3% , month to month, in August. Oil production hit all time high average of 2.547 million barrels per day, breaking the record of 2.457 million barrels per day set on Dec. 2014. Total natural gas production was also record breaking at 99.2 million m3/day, an increase of over 4.1% last month. Respectively, oil and gas increased 9.5% and 9.2% on a yearly comparison.
For the first time, production of the pre salt Lula field in the Santos Basin surpassed production of the Roncador field in the Campos Basin. Lula produced an average of 368 thousand bpd.
The pre salt fields were responsible for 33% of total oil and gas production at an average of approximately 1 million bpd. Being 859.8 thousand bpd of oil and 32.5 million m3/day of natural gas.
