Petrobras – Clarification of News Item: Investment of Partners in Comperj

Rio de Janeiro, August 28, 2015 – Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. – Petrobras hereby responds to Official Letter BM&FBovespa 2727/2015-SAE which requests the following clarifications:

OFFICIAL LETTER 2727/2015-SAE

“An article published by Agência Estado – Broadcast on August 27, 2015, states, among other matters, that:

(i) Petrobras’ Engineering Officer, Roberto Moro, affirmed that US$4.3 billion would be needed to conclude the first phase of the Rio de Janeiro Petrochemical Complex (Comperj);

(ii) Of the total to be invested, US$2.3 billion will be injected by partners, with whom Petrobras is currently negotiating;

(iii) The company’s intention is to conclude the first Comperj phase two years after formation of the partnership;

(iv) Initially, the schedule envisaged operational start-up in 2020, but this should be anticipated.

We therefore request that you provide clarification of the content of this item, as well as any other information deemed important, by 9:00 a.m. on August 28, 2015.”

Clarification

As disclosed in the 2015-2019 Business and Management Plan, Petrobras envisages investments of US$12.8 billion in the Refining, Transportation and Marketing area.

This total includes investments in Comperj for the works related to natural gas reception and treatment and equipment maintenance, among others.

The Plan also deals with business restructuring, including the pursuit of partners for the conclusion of certain projects, including Comperj.

Facts deemed material concerning this matter will be disclosed to the market in a timely manner.
