Rig operated by Transocean to make first campaign possibly in Farfan area

The Petrobras 10,000, which is operated by Transocean, arrived in Brazil earlier this week and is already undergoing the release procedures of the Brazilian authorities. The unit is in Sergipe waters, where it will make its first campaign, possibly in the Farfan project area, a discovery located on the SEAL-M-426 block.

The unit is due to come on stream in mid-November. Petrobras 10,000 was brought from the Gulf of Mexico where it was operating for Petrobras, in the fields of Cascade-Chinook.

The Petrobras 10,000  will be operating in the Northeast for at least the next six months to a year. In September, the unit’s charter contract was extended from September 2019 to October 2021.

Petrobras will install a long-term test in Farfan, with FPSO Cidade de São Vicente. The original forecast was for the system to come on stream in the last quarter of this year, but there is a chance the timeline will slide to 2019.

In addition to the discovery of Farfan, Petrobras operates eight areas in Sergipe, coming from the 2nd, 4th and 6th Rounds, deepwater cluster, and  other deepwater blocks in the Northeast, located in the Ceará-Potiguar, Pernambuco- Paraíba and Barreirinhas.

Petrobras 10,000 was brought to Brazil by its own propulsion.
