Seven platforms that Petrobras will contract until 2022

The Pioneer Libra FPSO, chartered with OOGTK, began producing last month at the Mero field.

The installation of a definitive system for the production of oil and gas in ultra-deep waters of the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin is the only novelty in the projects to be contracted in the next five years by Petrobras. As expected, the company postponed to 2021 the Búzios5 projects and the first production unit of the Marlim field revitalization project. The company had already postponed to 2021 the Libra 1 and Sepia projects recently contracted with Modec.

For the first time in years, Petrobras has a plan foreseeing a year with no platform in operation. By 2020, the company will not put any production system in operation. From 2018 to 2022, there will be a total of 19 new production units, 18 in Brazil and one in the Egina field, operated by Total in Nigeria.

Of the 18 FPSOs that come into operation in Brazil in the next five years, eight are own units and start operations between 2018 and 2019. For the coming year, the FPSO Cidade de Campos dos Goyatacazes is also expected to produce in the field of Tartaruga Verde and was chartered with Modec. The unit, according to Petrobras, has 99% of its schedule fulfilled today.

Another nine FPSOs are in operation between 2021 and 2022. Two of them are already contracted and another seven will still be tendered.

Revitalization of Marlim

Petrobras is expected to bid in 2018 to charter the first FPSO to be installed in the Marlim field revitalization project in the Campos Basin’s deepwater area. The company will decommission all eight platforms currently in operation in the field and replace them with two new FPSO-type platforms. The project also involves the Voador field and does not require local content.
