BW OFFSHORE AND PETROBRAS NEGOTIATE FIELD WHERE FPSO CITY OF SÃO MATEUS WILL OPERATE

May 30, 2017

BW Offshore is still in discussions with Petrobras to decide which field will be the final destination of the FPSO Cidade de São Mateus when the unit, which suffered an explosion in 2015, is again in operation.

At the time of the tragedy, which made nine fatalities, the platform ship was active in the fields of Camarupim and Camarupim Norte, on the northern coast of Espírito Santo. But there is no definition yet if the FPSO will return to these fields. Recently, Petrobras asked the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) for a longer period to resume operations in those areas, which should happen by April of next year.

The FPSO was contracted by Petrobras until 2018, but BW said it is advancing in negotiations with the Brazilian company to extend the agreement and believes that these talks should be concluded by the end of this semester.
